ITW : In the Air Intensive

Scott Smith is returning home to the Northwest and offering a very special and very unique small group intensive on suspension where the classroom will be the out of doors.

Scott is known for his suspensions starting back in the day of the Kinky Couples gatherings near Seattle.  As a paramedic, he trained rescue personnel in wilderness medicine, low and high angle rescue, and swiftwater rescue, to name but a few.  He has spent countless days in the Pacific North West rigging suspensions in trees, cliffs, buildings, and the occasional elevator shaft. I am sure the firemen always wondered why he was having such a good time.

If you have seen Scott with his rigging, hanging out fifty feet off the ground with a bottom in tow, you already know why he was having such a good time.

This Intensive gives you the chance to join Scott in a day of fun, adventure and learning. This intensive is for those people who have a passion for suspension, from the beginner to the advanced practitioner. It is a rare chance to enjoy a melding of kink and some of the great Pacific Northwest’s most noble residents, our trees.

A small sampling of what will be covered:

• Tools for the Mind: How to approach suspensions with confidence and the knowledge to make it happen.
• Scott’s personal strategies, with specific examples, of how to tackle the logistical and envelop the artistic.
• The Fetish of Suspension Hardware! What to trust when your life is literally hanging by it, what to leave in the toybox, and what to give to the dog in the hopes he will bury it in the backyard never to be seen again.
• Scott’s personal resources for obtaining unique suspension equipment.
• The whys and hows of Knot theory, with a review of critical knots used for suspension; how to tie them, where to use them.
• Critical Communication skills for you, your helpers, and your bottom.
• Common suspension blunders and how to avoid them.
• Problem Solving 101 through 401
• Suspending folks with disabilities
• Suspending for a purpose – Comfort, S/m, Sex, predicament or All of the above!
• Choosing Rope for aesthetics, purpose and feel.
• And LOTS of HANDS ON from low suspension, to high suspension, to OMG way up there suspension (for the willing).

This Intensive is being taught in conjunction with the “In The Woods” event and ITW registration is required. It will be offered on Sunday July 26, 2009 starting at 10:45 AM and lasting until 3:30 PM.  Registration will be limited to the first 20 registrants and is $25.00 per person or $40.00 per couple.

A brief gathering of registrants will take place Saturday night to converse about any special interests or desires and to review suggested equipment. The exact location of the Intensive at the “In The Woods” campus will be contingent on availability and environmental factors; it will be posted the morning of.

• Held just outside of Bellingham, WA, a casual distance north of Seattle, WA. and a short drive south from Vancouver BC. Camping goes from Wed -Wed but the organized event is Fri-Sun. with a meet and greet on TH night, all located between the shadow of Mt. Baker and the sound of the Pacific Ocean.
• How Much - $25 USD singles, $40 USD couples in addition to your entrance to ITW 2009.
